So, the big reveal is about to happen – how Democrats plan to pay for Obama’s paean to socialism, nationalized health care:
By the end of this week, House Democrats may have answered the biggest question looming in the health care debate – how they plan to pay for their overhaul.
A large portion is expected to come from reductions in Medicare and Medicaid. But that won’t pay for the full overhaul. As for raising money, ideas have included a national sales tax, taxing soda and a “surtax” on people making more than $250,000.
I’ve lost count – how many things are the “millionaires” (you know – those millionaires making $250k/year) supposed to pay for now? Energy surcharge, health care surcharge, making the tax code even more progrssive than it already is – you know, taxing all wealth in the US right out of existence. I’ve never really bought into the Going Galt philosophy – but you have to wonder where the tipping point is – the point where people who are productive members of society get tired of paying for everyone else’s “free” benefits and decide to just say “screw it” when it comes to generating income.
